As we are approaching the end of the year, insurance benefits are coming to a reset, and some of us have not used direct billing before so below we are going to detail what direct billing is and how it can benefit you.
What is direct billing?
Direct billing refers to an electronic transaction between a healthcare provider and the insurance provider. During a visit, the healthcare provider will submit a massage therapy or acupuncture claim electronically to the insurer with the total cost of the services completed that day. This payment may be total or partial, depending on the type of policy you have.
How does it work?
It is important to know that every Extended Healthcare Benefits Plan is unique. Certain policies including group policies may not allow for direct billing and require the patient to submit each statement themselves. We encourage all our patients to call and check with their Extended Healthcare Provides to ensure that they are eligible for direct billing.
AT Healflow we offer direct billing service, with over 20 extended health benefit insurance providers. Healflow process direct billing for all of our clients through the Telus Health platform, blue cross, and green shield. Most major Canadian carriers are included.
